"Offer in order to change a Destiny" Regional campaign to support children with disabilities
Star of Hope Romania Foundation initiates a regional campaign to support children with disabilities,
in partnership with the Parents Associations of the children with special needs from Iasi, Botosani, Vaslui, Bacau. We wish to launch this campaign on the 21st of November, starting at 10am, at the headquarters of Star of Hope Foundation from Iasi, Bariera Veche St. no.3 (Socola Bvd, behind Granit).
The campaign will take place between November 21 - December 20 2011 and it aims to raise community awareness regarding the situation of the children with disabilities.
The parents of the children with special needs are not affected only by their child's deficiency or by the barriers imposed by society, but also by the current crisis context, thus suffering due to the material lack which doesn't allow them to offer quality care to their children.
This is why this year we decided to mobilize the community, to fundraise from Companies and individuals in order to be able to offer a Hamper to each family with children with disabilities for Christmas. We plan to make 1000 hampers for families around the entire Moldavian area.
Within this campaign, two major events will take place:
- Marking the day of the 3rd of December - International Day of people with disabilities
- Christmas celebration
We will mark the International Day of people with disabilities with a collective event, "Open Doors Day", which will take place at every center founded by the Star of Hope Foundation in Romania, in the four counties from Moldova. During this day, every member of the society is invited to visit the centers and to observe the activities developed with these children and which are their abilities and qualities. Mass media are invited to interview the parents and the specialists who support children's rehabilitation.
Likewise, on December 2, Star of Hope Romania Foundation will organize a debate together with the representatives of the local authorities, politicians, responsible institutions, parents and NGO's, regarding the current severe situation of these children.
Events and performances to value the potential of the children with disabilities will be organized in partnership with the Parents Associations from all the counties of Moldova.
A GREAT Christmas Celebration will be held at the end of the campaign, which will be organized with the help of the Richard Wurmbrand College and other schools, a charitable event to support children with disabilities.
The main objective of the Star of Hope Romania Foundation is that of empowering the parents. The foundation was a road opener in Romania in terms of mobilizing the parents to create Associations and to fight together for the rights of children with disabilities. At present, there are 9 parents' associations in our network, for the Down syndrome, Autism and Neurological Motion Impairments. These associations, developed with the support of the Star of Hope Romania Foundation in the counties of Iasi, Botosani and Vaslui, sum up over 500 parents.
In 2011, the foundation has 4 Day Centers for the Rehabilitation of the children with disabilities and 2 Day Centers for children at risk of dropping out of school.
In the county of Iasi, in 2010, the "Star of Hope" Regional Rehabilitation Center was opened, which serves children with special needs around the entire Moldavian area.
Each citizen is invited to offer a Special Gift for a Special Child.
Any donation in money can be transferred in the RO36RNCB0175033618640001 - BCR Iasi account, and the donations consisting of goods can be made at our work Centers from:
